About the event

Resource Managers, Friends Groups and Citizen Scientists; Please join the Capital Region PRISM and New York State Parks to learn how to protect your hemlock tree stands from Hemlock Woolly Adelgid. Hemlock trees play an important role in our ecosystems, protecting and providing habitat for both aquatic and terrestrial species. HWA is best visible from the months of October-March, and early detection is key in preventing this invasive species. The event will teach participants how identify, survey, and use iMap Invasives to report sightings of HWA. The program will consist of a presentation on the phenology of Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, a training on the iMap Mobile App, followed with an outdoor field survey in Grafton Lakes State Park. Receive one on one assistance with regional experts in the field. Tools for assessing hemlock stands will also be shared and potential methods for management. Participants will meet at Grafton Lakes State Park…
